To deliver on its mandates, it works closely with donors, county and national government through the line ministries

Spark started as result of a feasibility study which was carried out in 1995 in the current Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties. The survey indicated that there were people with visual and physical disabilities who were burden to their communities as they did not know what to do with them. Spark sensitized the community and other key players who realized the need of restoring the dignity of P.W.D hence including them in all decision making and implementation. As a result they realized that P.W.D have the capacity and potential in growth of the economy. In the year 2000 Spark realized the need to diversify services to incorporate twin track approach which emphasized both medical and social aspect. The social aspects include community-based rehabilitation, offering eye care services, provision of mobility devices and implementing emergency and community empowerment programs.
